Steelers cut safety Juan Thornhill after Week 10 loss, per report

The Steelers released veteran safety Juan Thornhill today, per a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Per Rapoport, Thornhill will hit waivers before free agency.

Thornhill didn’t play a single defensive snap against the Chargers or the Colts last week, according to PFF.

Thornhill signed with the Steelers over the offseason on a one-year, $3 million deal. He started for Pittsburgh at free safety following the team’s trade of Minkah Fitzpatrick, logging 38 total tackles and one pass defensed so far in 2025.

The former Browns and Chiefs safety has appeared in all nine games this season, with one official start.

For the last two weeks, the Steelers have started the duo of Jalen Ramsey and Kyle Dugger at free and strong safety. Chuck Clark was the only other safety to receive defensive snaps against the Chargers in Week 10.
