Los Angeles (4-2) defeated Memphis (3-3), 117-112, on Friday at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee during an opening game of the NBA Cup for each team.
Friday marked a return to Tennessee for former Vol Dalton Knecht.
He played 15 minutes for the Lakers. Knecht totaled five points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal versus the Grizzlies. The former Vol converted 2-of-5 field goal attempts and 1-of-3 three-point attempts.
Luka Doncic led the Lakers in scoring with 44 points on Friday.
Knecht was selected in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft (No. 17) by Los Angeles.
He transferred to Tennessee from Northern Colorado and played for the Vols during the 2023-24 season under head coach Rick Barnes.
During his one season at Tennessee, Knecht averaged 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He led the Vols to a SEC regular-season championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight for a second time in school history.
