ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Fresh off clinching the Big Ten regular-season title, the third-ranked University of Michigan men’s basketball team (27-2, 17-1 Big Ten) will begin the final week of conference play Thursday (March 5) with a road matchup against Iowa (20-9, 10-8 Big Ten) at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. The contest marks Michigan’s seventh road game in its last 10 outings. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and will be streamed on Peacock, with Paul Burmeister and former Iowa standout Jess Settles providing commentary.

Notes

• Michigan opens the final week of the Big Ten regular season on the road before returning to Ann Arbor for a “Maize Out” rivalry matchup against Michigan State to close the regular season.

• The Wolverines conclude the regular season amid a demanding 11-game stretch over 38 days that has included seven road contests, five games against top-10 opponents, and a neutral-site showdown with perennial power Duke in Washington, D.C.

• Michigan has won 13 straight Big Ten games, marking the third time in program history the Wolverines have posted a double-digit conference win streak.

• Michigan holds a 100-68 record against Iowa, though U-M has won just two of the last five meetings. In Iowa City, the Maize and Blue are 38-42.

• Following its 84-70 win at 10th-ranked Illinois, Michigan secured the outright 2026 Big Ten regular-season title, its first since 2021. The championship marks U-M’s 16th Big Ten regular-season title.

• With the regular-season title secured and the expanded Big Ten Tournament format in place, Michigan earns the No. 1 seed for the third time in program history and receives a triple bye, advancing directly to the quarterfinals on Friday (March 13).

• At 27-2 overall, Michigan continues to author one of the most dominant seasons in program history, recording 23 victories by 10 or more points, 13 by 20-plus, 10 by 30-plus, seven by 40-plus — a Big Ten record — and one win by 50 or more points.

• In his first two seasons at Michigan, head coach Dusty May has guided the Wolverines to a 54-12 record, highlighted by back-to-back 27-win campaigns, with this season’s total still growing. Earlier this year, May became the fastest coach in program history to reach 50 victories, accomplishing the feat in just 61 games.

• During this record-setting season, Michigan established a new program mark with 17 Big Ten wins, surpassing the previous record of 16 conference victories set by the 1984-85 (16-2) and 1976-77 (16-2) teams.

• Michigan has now recorded 15 or more Big Ten wins six times in program history, posted double-digit conference victories in 13 of the last 15 seasons, and reached 10-plus league wins 39 times overall.

• The most wins in Big Ten history are 18 by Purdue (2022-23; 18-2), Illinois (2021-22; 18-2) and Wisconsin (2021-22; 18-2). Eight seasons in conference history have featured a 20-game regular-season schedule.
